Delivery Groups & How They Work

Delivery groups categorise products based on their supply chains, ensuring efficient delivery and correct pricing. Each product in an order belongs to a specific delivery group, which determines which suppliers are notified and how delivery charges are calculated.

Why Do Delivery Groups Matter?

  • Different Supply Chains: Not all suppliers offer the same products. Delivery groups help match suppliers to relevant parts of each order.
  • Delivery Costs: Delivery charges are based on product type, supplier, order value, and delivery location.
  • Supplier Location & Reach: Some suppliers distribute nationally, while others operate regionally.

Types of Delivery Groups

Each delivery group is assigned a letter (A–H) based on material type and supply chain:

Delivery Group

Products Covered

A

Insulation, plasterboard, drylining products

B

Timber, sheet materials, doors, joinery, gardens & landscaping

D

SuperFoil and YBS insulation products

F

Screws, fixings, adhesives, sealants

G / H

Specialty insulation (e.g., CozyWool, SheepWool Loft Insulation)

Example:

  • 100mm Recticel PIR Board → Group A → Suppliers: insulation & drylining distributors
  • Timber Batten → Group B → Suppliers: timber merchants

Each order can contain multiple delivery groups. These are typically split into separate supplier-managed orders at checkout.

Using Delivery Groups to Upsell

If an order is just below a free delivery threshold, suggest adding products to save on shipping and increase value.

Example: A customer orders £340 worth of insulation – recommend £10 more to get free delivery (£350+).
